| Kate Harrison Wins NACAC
XC Championships, Connor Darlington Takes Silver - Feb. 19, 2011 |
The North American, Central American and Carribean Cross Country Championships, held
on Feb. 19 in Trinidad and Tobago, played out as a dual meet between Canada and the USA.
The juniors started the day with wins for both the mens and the womens teams.
The Canadian junior men not only won, but managed a clean sweep of the medals in their 6k
race, led by Ross Proudfoots first place finish, Connor Darlington in second place
and Paul Janokowski in third. Proudfoot and Connor Darlington made a break in the third
and final two kilometer lap. Proudfoot prevailed in the final stages to win in 18:27, less
than two seconds ahead of Darlington (18:29). In the Senior Races the tables were turned,
and it was the Americans who came out on top. This was in spite of several strong,
individual runs by Canucks, most notably Kate Harrisons gold medal victory
in the womens 6K race. Harrison, 22, ran away from the strong American contingent to
savour her first international victory after a 20:19 effort, three seconds ahead of Duwell
(20:22) and Conley (20:24). Cam Levins was second in the mens race, behind the
American Robert Cheseret (younger brother of miling legend Bernard Lagat). Many of the
participating athletes in Trinidad are expected to represent their countries at the IAAF
World Cross Country Championships in Punta Umbria, Spain, on 20 March.
Congratulations!!! Kate & Connor |

| Aaron Wins Bronze at IAAF
World Junior Championships - Moncton, New Brunswick - July 23, 2010 |
Aaron
Brown earned a bronze medal in the mens 200 metres at the IAAF world junior track
and field championships on Friday night, with a personal-best time of 21 seconds. Brown
edged Wayde van Niekerk of South Africa by .02 of a second to reach the podium.I was
running blind from the outside so I did not see anybody until I got onto the straightaway,
Brown, 18, said. They all started to pull away so I finished as strong as I could
and Im very happy to get the bronze medal. I really pushed it at the end. The
crowd was a motivating factor for sure. I could hear them cheering me on, so I wanted to
give them something to be proud of. And he did, but only after a long wait. The
furious finish to the race, and a delay in posting the results on the stadium scoreboard,
left Brown wondering if hed earned a medal. Aarons medal was Canadas
second of the games, on Wednesday, Taylor Stewart a 19-year-old from London, Ont., won
bronze in mens long jump.
Congratulations!!! Aaron
